ABHI Innovation Cohort Welcome

Welcome!

It is a great pleasure to welcome the 2020 ABHI Innovation Hub cohort to WorkSpaces @ Texas Health CoLab at UT Austin’s Dell Medical School! Many of you participated in the visit to Dell Medical School in December, several have visited over the past couple of months and we look forward to engaging with all of you over the coming year. It is exciting to have such a great diversity of companies bringing novel, innovative ideas to the U.S.

The ABHI Innovation Hub has been a prominent feature of the WorkSpaces @ Texas Health CoLab since we opened our doors in October 2017. This innovation hub within Dell Medical School has enabled U.K. companies to expand to the U.S. to continue to develop promising medical technology that helps patients in both countries. We started with eight companies participating in the hub and are thrilled to welcome 24 as part of the 2020 cohort.

Founded in 2014 with strong support from our community, and as part of a Tier 1 Research University, Dell Medical School is on a mission to revolutionize how people get and stay healthy. Dell Med matriculated its first class of 50 medical students in 2016 and, after earning full accreditation earlier this year, will be graduating its first class this May. Along the way, leaders designed Dell Med’s innovative Leading EDGE curriculum to focus on value-based health care, team-based learning, self-discovery, expanded clinical opportunities and more with the objective of graduating medical doctors who are as comfortable identifying and addressing health system challenges as they are caring for individual patients.

Together we are looking inside and out for innovative ideas that improve the health of our community. To drive this endeavor, the Texas Health CoLab is the center for health product innovation supporting innovators from a wide range of backgrounds. We are dedicated to developing partnerships and collaborations that address real challenges in health and health care, providing the promise of real positive impact on our community.

We are already working with several of you on exciting collaborative projects – and look forward to welcoming you in person during your next visit to Austin!

Warm Regards,

Verena Kallhoff, Manager, WorkSpaces @ Texas Health CoLab, Dell Medical School
